Math Kangaroo USA is a national nonprofit committed to fostering a love for math in students. For over 27 years, it has hosted an annual international mathematics competition, engaging thousands of K-12 students. With a focus on enhancing math skills, Math Kangaroo introduces innovative problem-solving strategies, strengthens critical thinking, and builds students' confidence in the classroom.

In 2024, LAUSD Region West partnered with Math Kangaroo to bring this enriching program to LAUSD schools. Spearheaded by Community Magnet parent Howard C. (Bei-Hai, Grade 2), the CMCS Math Kangaroo Club was established! This club unites students who share a passion for math, meeting every Monday after school to hone their skills. With guidance from CMCS teachers, parents, and instructional aides, these dedicated students took on their first Math Kangaroo competition in March 2024—where an incredible SIX students ranked in the top 20 nationally! We can't wait to see what they achieve next!
