Linda W.

All I could say is that I love everything and everybody affiliated with CMCS. I was a fifth grade teacher for years in Room 13, and retired in 2012. But when I was offered the opportunity to work part time in CATCH, developing curriculum, I eagerly responded, "yes". So here I am, years later, working and playing with the greatest staff, parents and kids ever!

My teaching career was filled with so many wonderful experiences. I was fortunate to be a Los Angeles County, Teacher of the Year, as well as being recognized at the Disney Teacher of the Year Ceremony. For over fifteen years I was a mentor, and BTSA leader with LAUSD. And another great opportunity was working for many years as the Elementary Supervisor in the UCLA History Geography Project. Through UCLA, I traveled all over the United States, and was selected to be the California representative in developing the 5th Grade National Civics Exam. But nothing has been more exciting in my career as being in a classroom with 32 enthusiastic kids, surrounded by the best supportive parents and staff ever.

What I am very proud of is "being married to my high school sweetheart" for over fifty years. Dennis, and I met at Hamilton High School in WLA, We have two sons, two great daughter in laws, and four grandkids. Olivia and Holden went all six years to Community, and now attend LACES.

When I am not at Community, we're traveling anywhere and everywhere. A lot of our traveling has been "won", as my hobby is entering contests. We have won hundreds and hundreds of great fun prizes, including cruises, and trips to exotic destinations. Last year I won a trip for all ten of our family to fly to Nashville on a Southwest private charter, and all expenses were paid for all. So you see, I love my family, my hobby, and my career, before and now after retirement. All I can say is "all is good, very good"! And come visit me in CATCH, any Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday!
